A Happy Birthday with [livejournal.com profile] scienceinblack

Birthday breakfast with Mom? Check. Cussing out Conner? Check. Hayley's would be the logical next stop, but instead she found herself driving down Valencia Road to see Dr. Oliver.

He was the only one she hadn't called ahead to let him know she'd be home, and hopeful no one had told him. She wanted it to be a surprise visit. He'd known her birthday was coming up, but the last time they'd talked she hadn't been expecting to be back. That had changed, of course, but the element of surprise would be fun. Not like she's going in without knocking.

She got out of her car and took a big breath of fresh air before heading to the door. It was so good to be back here again.

The monster front was a bit quiet, quieter than he'd expected anyway. For the most part he tried to deal with things himself. Not because he wanted to or had to but because it was the right thing to do. Conner and the rest of them needed a little break sometimes. It was why Kira wasn't there. Not that he'd forgotten what day it was.

What he wasn't expecting was visitors. So when that knock does come, he raises a brow. But it didn't stop him from going and answering the door to see who exactly it was.

"Is there anything else you'd like to do? Go out... Or I could cook for you." As for her hand on his arm, he wasn't going to make her move it. Despite the fact of the whole... yeah, he wasn't going to. And she'd be right in thinking that he wouldn't judge her. It wasn't whom he was.

To him she was special. Some might say even more than a certain pink ranger that he'd dated. But he wouldn't say that. Besides, no need to raise anyone's ego. That would be the worst thing to do. So for now he just sits with her and eats.

"Why don't you let me worry about that." Because it was something for him to worry about. Not for her to worry about. "What we do is our own business. It doesn't matter what goes on." Besides, it isn't like he couldn't find something else.
