A Happy Birthday with [livejournal.com profile] scienceinblack

Birthday breakfast with Mom? Check. Cussing out Conner? Check. Hayley's would be the logical next stop, but instead she found herself driving down Valencia Road to see Dr. Oliver.

He was the only one she hadn't called ahead to let him know she'd be home, and hopeful no one had told him. She wanted it to be a surprise visit. He'd known her birthday was coming up, but the last time they'd talked she hadn't been expecting to be back. That had changed, of course, but the element of surprise would be fun. Not like she's going in without knocking.

She got out of her car and took a big breath of fresh air before heading to the door. It was so good to be back here again.

When she finished, she set down her plate, wiped her mouth and took a drink of her juice—then took a deep breath. She was going to say something. She had to say something.

"You kissed me." It was just a statement, a soft mumble, but it brought up the topic. Probably not a very common way to start a conversation like that, but it was very Kira—straightforward and to the point.

It was one of the things that he liked about her. Her straightforwardness. Not all girls had that. Much less ones her age. So it was something he was glad that she'd held onto. Just as he was sure his other students had held onto other things that had made them who they were.

"I did." He states watching her. This almost felt like high school all over again. "I believe it's what one does when they like someone. Is it not?" A part of that is teasing but it's also serious.

Her head turned toward him, to look at him more directly. The surprise on her face and the hope in her eyes were subtle, but they were there.

"It is." The question still remained...what exactly did he mean by like?

He saw the emotions play through her eyes. In her face. It was subtle but not overly subtle. To be honest he hadn't expected... "When I said that I mean really like you, Kira."

See how she dealt with that.

Her eyes slowly widened, just barely. It was like he'd read her mind.

She stared at him for a few moments—just trying to think of a way to respond.

When her mind failed her, her emotions decided for her. She leaned toward him and lightly brushed her lips against his.

He watched her for a moment and no, he wasn't a mind reader. That was one power he'd rather do without. He'd stick with the one he had. Which could come in handy on occasion.

When her lips brushed his, however, he kisses her back but he's letting her set the pace.

Feeling him react the way he did—it was nothing short of electric. She'd come here expecting to just to play a little catch up while she was home—but now they were kissing and—

Her desire was taking over, everything she'd been holding back all these years. That kiss quickly became more passionate, a lot more passionate than a first kiss should probably be, but at this point she wasn't thinking about that—or much of anything.

[identity profile] scienceinblack.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Desire wasn't technically a bad thing. At least Tommy didn't see it that way. When that kiss turns passionate, he doesn't stop her. Instead he just poured how he felt into the kiss.

This was wrong. He knew that. Everyone would say it was but he didn't quite give a damn what they thought.

[identity profile] melodiousyellow.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
She kept kissing him until she had to break it. She tried to catch her breath, but stayed close. It was now she was thinking about all this. She knew it was wrong, too.

"That—I—we—" She really should stop talking until she could form a complete sentence, or decide which sentence to go with.

[identity profile] scienceinblack.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Tommy knew what was on her mind. It would've been on everyone's mind. Including his own if he was thinking right. But he hadn't been. His mind hadn't even ventured into the student/teacher route.

"Don't worry about what other people will think."

Forget wrong. It felt right.

[identity profile] melodiousyellow.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
"But...Tommy, this..."

The use of his first name was more deliberate this time. She couldn't call him Dr. O anymore, not after what just happened.

She was so torn right now. She wanted this so badly, had for a while now, but she was worried about what everyone would think, mainly her mother and the parents of his current students. She didn't want anyone in Reefside to think he was some kind of sexual predator because of her.

"Kira, don't worry so much. That bridge will be crossed when we get there."

After all, she was a grown woman. Was she really going to allow other people to think for her? It just wasn't the young woman's style and he knew it.

[identity profile] melodiousyellow.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
He was right, it wasn't her style, but this wasn't about what people thought about her. It was about what they thought about him, and how that could damage his reputation and possibly cost him his job.

"I just don't want you to get into any trouble because of me."
